In this post we’ve selected a number of the most spectacular natural pools, ponds, waterfalls, rivers and lakes that you can find near Jaén.
Welcome to the largest expanse of protected natural space in Spain, the largest green lung in the country. Jaén is a province where nature gives rise to an irresistible appeal for tourists. It boats four natural parks, three areas of outstanding nature beauty, too nature receives and ten nature monuments, making it unique in the Iberian Peninsula. More than three hundred thousand hectares, almost a third of the province’s territory, are protected.
The Sierras of Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas represents the largest and most important natural space. A treasure trove of plant and animal life, a stunning and unique natural park are Sierra Mágina, Sierra de Andújar and Despeñaperros. Magina is a geological rarity and a treasure chest of native flowers, in an abundance that can be found in only few European countries. Sierra de Andújar and Despeñaperros reach to the north of Jaén and from part of the Sierra Morena massif, a place of myth and legend, immortalized in literature and praised by travelers throughout the ages.

Natural pools, rivers, waterfalls and lakes to discover in Jaén
Enjoy the adventure of discovering areas in the midst of nature where you can take refreshing dips, stroll through places filled with greenery and take in impressive waterfalls. In order to enjoy your trip to the utmost, look for good dates when you can avoid the crowds. In some of these places, in the months of July and August, you may have little room to yourself. We advise you to wear pumps so you can walk over the rocks, and to avoid exposing yourself to the midday sun.
